Admission to the program is based on a review of the candidate's background in having completed at least a master's degree in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical psychology, clinical social work, psychiatry, psychiatric nursing, or some equally relevant clinical field. At times, applicants with other backgrounds who are pursuing a career in a human service profession are admitted and are encouraged to apply.
Students are expected to have experienced a significant course of individual psychotherapy before completion of the program.
Application for admission requires the appropriate fee — $50 by July 31 or $75 after that date — three letters of recommendation, and an interview with a faculty member. The application process must be complete by the first weekend of training in September.
GTIP is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology to offer continuing education for psychologists. GTIP maintains responsibility for the program.
This training is approved through the Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. Bryn Mawr GSSWSR, as a CSWE accredited school of Social Work, is a pre-approved provider of continuing education credits for Social Workers in Pennsylvania and many other states.
